The world of outsourcing is continually evolving and no matter what our national leaders or Lou Dobbs may say about outsourcing, this industry is here to stay. So long as organizations create economic value at a price point acceptable to a willing buyer and a willing seller, for good quality, the work will move from one market place to another. As water seeks it's own level, similarly in a global market place, the laws of economics will allow the work to be sourced from the market place that offers the best economic value.
Successful outsourcing is not about the least cost or green light SLAs at any cost. Successful outsourcing will result from the customer and the outsourcer working hand in hand in the best interests of the final end customer. It requires dedication, perseverance, a focus on operational excellence and last but not the least faith and mutual trust in the extended team. The outsourcer and the customer's Governance team may have their own separate masters but they have one common customer who they serve.
As John Maynard Keynes said, “The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones.” The goal of my blog site is to escape from the old ideas and dogmas about outsourcing and share with you the ideas I have developed and the lessons I have learned in making outsourcing work. Outsourcing involves a simple recipe: an intense focus on cost, quality and delivery. But it’s the art and not only the science of outsourcing that is very intriguing and one that I hope I can share through my blog site.
So stay tuned!! There is more to come soon!!
